Cathode Ray Tube

As usual, we decided to have dinner inside our room so we could watch TV (my landlord's) while having dinner. Since we don't have cable, our only option is the english channel. To cut the long story short, we eventually got hooked on watching from our 'old school' 19in television - it's a thing of beauty.
Then it happened. When we turned on the TV, we heard a strange electrical sound. Right there and then we knew something bad happened inside. When I tried turning it back on, the TV no longer responded. It still won't respond after 10 minutes. Sigh.. it came to its end.
We'll just probably get a 32in LCD TV over the weekend during the Electronics fair! Great timing!

Carnivore - CHIJMES

Disclaimer - This is not a food review; I'm simply sharing my dining experience.

We celebrated my sister's birthday @ Carnivore CHIJMES located just walking distance from City Hall MRT. The ambiance of the place was amazing. The outside dining tables glow due to the soft candle lights; it even looked beautiful after sunset. The big trees inside CHIJMES also had lighting decorations which matched the over all theme of the place - cozy, laid-back just like dining in-your-own-backyard.

If you start around 6PM, you'll get an early bird discount ($39++); by 7PM the price for 1 buffet meal is already $45++ per person.
The restaurant serves 14 different types of meat, beef, lamb, chicken and fish - all cooked on a grill and served with style. The chefs go from one table to another carrying a big butcher knife on one hand and skewered meat on the other hand (as shown above). They also have a salad bar and some dishes on one corner.
Less than 30 mins after we sat down, our plates were already full with assorted slices of 'carnivore'. The chefs were 'trigger-happy' and butchered every possible meat they can serve to us. Even pineapples were served grilled - and it tasted sweet too.

Anyway, after 2 hours of eating...resting...eating and resting we found ourselves fully loaded. My personal favorites were grilled ham, pork ribs, sausage, chicken thighs, fish (My GF & SIS favorite) cheese and garlic bread. The rest were A-OK. Overall, it was a different experience altogether

Thanks for the treat SIS!

Movie Nights - Moon

Moon stars Sam Rockwell - an astronaut stationed in our moon's lunar base who's about to return to Earth after finishing his 3 year contract. Then something extraordinary happened. I won't spoil you if you intend to watch it. Anyway, here's what I think. The storyline was OK but still far from reality. If you have a good imagination and a fan of sci-fi movies then it's an OK movie. Otherwise, pick a different one.

Honestly, kudos to the people who did the trailer for this movie. You will never have guessed the twist and climax unlike other movie trailers where you know the ending just by watching the trailer. As for Sam Rockwell, he did a great job playing his character - a worn out astronaut who just wanted to go home and see his family. Nevertheless, it's still a good movie to watch on a Saturday night!

001

Already 2am. My mind is still wide awake courtesy of the cold iced tea I had after dinner. Bed is calling me.. have to rest soon. I don't want to look restless tomorrow during Tina's (my sister) advance birthday celebration with me and my beautiful GF.

Anyway, I decided to start blogging. Why? To share my ideas to the world. About what? Don't ask me now. I'm still puzzled what I want to write about. It can be anything. We'll figure it out. Soon.
